I work as a receptionist at a goverment agency. Some observations:
1. 50% of the calls we get are people who should actually be calling someone else to solve their probmlem. Of these, about 20% don't BELEIVE me when I tell them that they've called the wrong place.
2. Everyone who calls here thinks that they're the only one calling here. They don't realize that while I'm talking to them, three other people had to listen to the automated attendant.
3. Some people insist that I'm being rude to them even when i bend over backwards to help them.
I could go on and on but right now I'm drawing a blank! Imagine that! I'm not pissed about any particular issue right now, so that's probably why.
Oh... one other thing that boggles my mind. We recently moved into a new office space. They were going to install a TV in our lobby -- up on a bracket like you'd see in a bar or a hospital room. They decided it wasn't worth it (we do use it for legit purposes, or at least we used to) because it cost $600 for the bracket to hold it up there. Then a few weeks later they decided to buy a decrative water fountain behind my desk. Cost? $2000. Custom made with our logo. Idiots.
