That's one of my biggest problems with working in social services - you rarely get a big gold star.

Thanks Dan!

It's pretty cool you're willing to go out of your way to help accomodate this lady even if she drives you nuts. Big gold star!

It's not that difficult to complete if you have an "average" reading level. But the majority of the people I work with don't.

I emailed my contact at the state, who agreed with you, and said that I don't have it, so she will be denied from the program (it's not that hard to get back on, and she has done it before).

It just pissed me off because everyone in this office is to stupid to remember whether there was an envelope laying in the doorway on Saturday or not. Then, they tell me that it's not a big deal, and I shouldn't stress about it. Anything having to do with this provider is stressful, so of course, I'm going to stress over it.

Oh, and I tried to call the provider to tell her what the state said, and the number she gave me was incorrect.

Thanks for responding Gary!

How difficult is it to complete the application?

Attitude or not, the bottom line is you need this documentation to process her approval to operate. So regardless of whether the application was mis-laid or not done in the first place, you dont have it.

There is nothign to negotiate. You can certainly extend the benefit of the doubt and hold back her due date by another week, but you need that application to be in your hands. I would simply call the woman and advise her that her documents cannot be located, and you will send out a new set by registered mail advising of a new date for completion. Also, note in writing that you can only accept return of the papers during office hours to avoid this happening again

So, in my job I do home inspections for child care providers. I get to go to the scariest houses in the worst parts of town. There is one provider who I hate dealing with that I get to deal with almost every three months because she is always moving. She has to have some mental disorder because one time that she talks to you, she is civil and then other times, she is screaming and ranting. Well, she was supposed to turn in her application packet for her most recent move on Friday. Friday at 4, she calls and says she can't make it. So I told her that she could drop it off in the drop box Friday night.

This morning, I come to work and her packet is not here. She calls at 8:45 and asks if everything was complete. I told her that I didn't get her packet in my box, but I would go and look for it. Of course, nobody knows where it is. I ask the woman who held a training here over the weekend, and she says, "I can't remember if there was anything or not. If there would have been anything, I would have thrown it in with the newspapers." So, I check in with the newspapers and pretty much the whole front office, and there is no packet.

Now, I have to decide whether to give her the benefit of the doubt that she turned it in, and we lost it (did I mention that she is paranoid and already thinks that we are out to get her) or go threw the process like she didn't turn it in. I don't believe her. I have several documented cases of her lying to me before, but at the same time, I don't trust these stupid people that I work with.
