So i open my work email this morning and get an email titled, "Professional Growth Objectives." It's to make a scheduled meeting (one-on-one) with one of the higher ups in my department.
I just IMd her, and this is our convo (verbatim):
Me: i was just curious as to this email you just sent me--the profesional growth objectives meeting.
Her: just trying to assess where you want to go professionally and what we (the company) can do to help with that goal ... i'm meeting with everyone individually.
Me: Oh, okay.
Her: so think about we're you'd like to be in 1 year, 2 years, 5 years, etc.
OMFG. Quick, i have to think up some bullshit! hahahahahaha do they really think i want to be here in two years???? *falls down laughing* geezus ... i can't remember the last time i laughed so hard :-\

Re: Professional Growth Objectives
Thu, March 18, 2004 - 12:51 PMOh gawd! I hate that corporate crap, too. It's all so artifical and constructed to make you look like you're actually going somewhere. Why can't a job just be a job? Why do you have to advance if you don't want to? Why can't you get rewarded for the good work that you produce and not the asses that you kiss? It's not like you can write your real objectives, ie. I want to work here for the next year and make some money and then go do what I really love to do. It's like they want you to be ambitious but only according to their rules. You can't say, I want to move into upper management and fire your ass. It's retarded. So, yeah, you just have to bullshit.

Fri, March 19, 2004 - 9:22 AMwell let's see sir. in 1 year i'd like a 5k/yr salary increase, in 2 i'd like to see 10k/yr and in 5 years i'd like to have your job so i don't have to listen to bullshit questions like this anymore. -
