This weekend I was lucky enough to spend some time talking to people who do what they love for a living. Not only do they do what they love, they thrive at it. For a long while now I've known that if you have faith often everything falls into place. However, having faith that your bills can be paid by doing whatever it is you love doing is a great challenge in a struggling economy where you're told to feel fortunate that you just have a job. I'm getting some dental work done in the next 5 weeks and then I'm leaving my job. I've been inspired by the happiness and fulfillment of others and will set off on my journey to find my path that contributes to the world and to my own delicious destiny. I refuse to become apathetic to my circumstances. Spring is upon us and it is a time for new beginings and rejuvination. I will no longer settle for a job that meagerly pays my bills while draining my soul. I will no longer tolerate a position that does not recognize my talents and gifts to the world. I will actively seek out my rightful path to happiness and be the change I want to see in the workforce! There's so much more to us all than these low expectations that socity has cast upon us. There's so much more to life than this! This is my pact to myself, the world, and all my fellow JOBHATERS! C'mon now, who's with me!!!

I just got some dental work done yesterday - a crown, frikkin expensive! Had to do it before the insurance runs out - i.e. until I quit! Well, my timeline is still a bit aways - July is around when I'll quit, if I can last that long!!!
What avenues are you going to pursue? Inspire us all to quit!!! -

This must be a fundamental difference between employment in the US and employment in Australia - there is not such thing as a job with 'benefits' here.
The most you can expect is a company car if your job requires you to be on the road a lot. Health insurance is a private expense... the only employer I know of that provides free cover is the Armed Services.
Then again, Australia has one of the better free Medical systems in the world - if you get sick or injured, you go to hospital. If you front up to casualty and wait for treatment, you'll be taken care of free of charge. If you arent prepared to wait, you can rely on private health cover.
Dental expenses are met by private health insurance coverage or you pay your dentist when you have a filling, your choice. Its never something that comes as a fringe benefit on a job.
So if your job sucks in Australia, you arent going to hang around just for the benefits. -
